Birthdays

How do y'all celebrate birthdays?  (yes I did use y'all, I'm from Tennessee)  My girlfriends and I usually do dinner and pedicures.  Whenever we get together for dinner it's an 5 hour event.  We have to catch up with what's new in each other's lives, eat tons of food, and then vow to meet each other at the gym the next morning.  September happens to be the birth month for 2 of my closest friends, so in honor of them, this month's giveaway is Birthday Celebration Candy Bouquet.  To enter you can leave a message about your fondest (or not so great) birthday memories on the From Riley With Love Facebook Fan Page or blog.

  1. One of my best memories was for my 25th birthday. My husband took me to his parents' house a few days before my birthday. My niece, who was four at the time, came running out of the kitchen and yelled, "We're having a party for you, but it's a surprise so no one can tell you!" We tease her about it to this day. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  2. When I was a kid my mom used to make special party hats for our birthdays depending on the theme, my favorite year was my "Muppet Babies" party. She asked us all who we wanted to be and used construction paper to makes hats of that character. I was Kermie.

  3. Hmm. When I turned 18 I got a surprise party. It was so much fun to be surprised by all your family and friends and to feel so loved. Better than any gift.

  4. One of my fondest memories is of my 6th birthday when I got my first big kid bike. I remember running into the house and seeing a beautiful shiney new banana seat bike that was yellow with flowers printed on the seat. "Banana seat" oh boy do I feel old!
This is a great giveaway my 2 year old son "Rylee" is turning 3 next month, that candy bouquet would definately give him a memorable birthday.
    thanks,

  5. For my 18th birthday, my best friends from high school threw me a surprise party. I had actually suspected something was up, but the night before my closest friend convinced me there was no party, and it worked! I was totally shocked and I had a ton of fun.

  6. I posted on the Facebook wall

Maria Gagliano I guess my favorite memory was my 30th birthday. It was the year I got engaged. My boyfriend/husband now asked me to call into work. Then after breakfast told me "I want to get my girl a ring". It was a shock at the time but was the start of the best thing that ever happened in my life.

  9. I'll share my not-so-fond memory, lol. Last year, I went to the NC DMV to update my driver's license (we had recently moved from out-of-state). Once there, I learned a written exam was required. I thought no problem, right? Well, it was VERY state-specific and had several questions regarding statistics... needless to say, I failed. Also, it was the bit 3-0. I failed my driver's exam on my 30th birthday, lol.

  13. My favorite birthday would have to be this past one.
I didn't really feel up to thinking about and planning a huge party, so my friends convinced me to just relax all by myself.
I was slightly confused on why they didn't insist I have one.
Well on the day of my birthday, I got a phone call from my best friend who wanted to know if I wanted to just spend the day together since it was my birthday after all, but nothing big.
I agreed, and as soon as I got there, about 20 people jumped out and screamed surprise. I was so shocked, and a bit scared, that I almost walked all the way back to my car.

  14. My best birthday was my latest one. We went to Disney World to celebrate. Everything about that trip was magical. I loved the little desserts that they brought to me and the "happy birthdays" I received from cast members.

  15. My favorite birthday just happened last year when I turned 25! My boyfriend planned a surprise trip to Chicago! We went dancing, shopping, ate the best food, went to museums! It was a blast, but the best part was that he surprised me and planned it all himself!! :)

  17. one of my best birthdays was my 30th. I was a new mom and TIRED! My husband planned it all and surprised me. I even stayed out until Midnight (which is really late for me, especially at that time!). It was extra special because he planned it so well and kept the secret, which he isn't good at! samanthadoerfler@hotmail.com

  19. My fondest birthday memories always involved my twin sister. She texted me last birthday at 2 am (the time I was born) to wish me a Happy Birthday. I waited 7 mins(the time were born apart) and texted her back with birthday wishes.

  20. Every year on my birtday I cry, I don't know why, but I do...and as far back as I can remember I always get emotional on my birthday. My husband is well aware of this so a few years ago he started a new tradition when it comes to birthday cards. He is such a romantic and would pick out the most beautiful cards and I woud cry like a baby and usually he would give me my gift before or during dinner...so i would end up crying and my make-up would be history. So now instead of sappy cards he always tries his hardest to get me funny cards...funnier and sillier the better.

  21. Birthdays were never made a big deal in my family growing up but it was ok because we didn't know any better and as I've gotten older mine still didn't matter to me. (I have always made a big deal out of my 4 kid's birthdays) but that all changed 3 years ago when I found out I had cancer. I lost a kidney to the cancer and now every year we celebrate what we call my "Re-Birthday" We have dinner and presents and we all cry together. Tears of happiness that I am still here for another "re-birthday"

  24. One of my best birthday memories is my last birthday. It is Feb. 2nd. It was so memorable because it was just a few days after I had my 2nd little girl. It was my first day home & even though I was in pain, it was the best birthday I could ever have because it was our first day home as a complete family! You can't get better than that!

  25. One my my best memories is when my daughter surprised me with a birthday dinner with my friends.
My husband and I had just divorced and my 8th grade daughter at the time and I moved into an apartment December 23.
My birthday was the first week of January and I was really feeling blue with the divorce, finances, being a single parent and everything else that came with a divorce and the holidays.
One of my dear friends called and invited me and my daughter to dinner at her house the night of my birthday and after much convincing, I agreed but only if I could bring something. She finally agreed.
When we arrived at her house, I was greeted by her husband and escorted into the kitchen. My daugther said she had to use the restroom. Well, when we entered the dining room.....there sat 12 of my closest girlfriends and my daughter! Needless to say I cried like a baby!
